That's no moon...it's your last semester
Most, if not all Star Wars movies contain some variation of the line, "I've got a bad feeling about this." Thankfully, for this semester, I don't share this sentiment. For my final class to complete my minor, English 431, I took a BuzzFeed quiz to gauge my skills in digital rhetoric and to see if the force(s of web design, argument-crafting, etc) flow through me. The result: Jedi Apprentice.
Not the most threatening of intergalactic knight/wizards, but at leas the kid looks like me. What the rank detailed was exactly right--I'm only a little familiar with the rhetorical possibilities of digital media. That being said, what little familiarity I have has taken me a long way. I mean, this blog that hasn't been updated in six months doesn't run itself.
In all seriousness, I felt accurately described by my BuzzFeed result. I can make a meme, put together a portfolio with Submittable, and make some cringey content on Windows MovieMaker (and also iMovie, for the English Ed majors out there). The results of my test labeled me as what I am: someone pursuing a minor.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with my role in this class as a laser sword-wielding toddler with a glorified rattail kicking droid ass throughout the galaxy...or more accurately as a college senior with a blog. More than anything, I'm excited to see where this class takes me, and to learn how much more I can do with my current skills, as well as what skills I can develop.
If I was going to set a goal for myself, it's to finally master Audacity. I have so many podcast ideas floating around in my head and I want so badly to be able to get those projects off the ground. Also, it's a great opportunity to polish this site. There's always room for improvement. And that very phrase, I think, should be my motto for my digital literacy narrative as well as the entire class (maybe my life, we'll see)
I think that's the note I'll end this post on. Until next time!
